Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some of the frequently asked questions about our organization and the corresponding answers to those questions. If you do not find the questions(s) uppermost in your mind, please contact us and we will be happy to provide an answer to you at the earliest opportunity.

1. Why did you change the bank's name? Have you been sold?
The bank's name was changed due to a trademark issue with another company.
There have been no changes in ownership or ownership structure.
2. Who owns the bank?
Technically, the bank (Mile High Banks) is wholly owned by the Big Sandy Holding Company. The Big Sandy Holding Company is, in turn, owned by approximately 160 investors, most of whom are residents of Front Range communities in Colorado.
3. How safe are my deposits?
Deposits in Mile High Banks are fully insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in accordance with the maximum limits established by the FDIC for all banks. Please visit the FDIC web site for specific terms and limitations at: www.fdic.gov or call them at 1-800-934-3342. Additionally, our bank is one of the best capitalized financial institutions in Colorado.
4. Do you accept direct deposits?

Yes, we have virtually all of the same capabilities as any larger financial institution.

5. Where are loan and other decisions made?

Although we have a common Loan Policy and credit culture, virtually all decisions are made by the Branch Presidents. That’s one of the reasons we’re able to provide approvals so quickly.

6. What are your growth and expansion plans?

We plan to aggressively open new facilities when there is a community need and where we can staff those offices with experienced and established bankers.

7. Are you going to sell out to another out of state bank?

Our Senior Management have formulated the current organizational structure because we are community bankers who did not want to be associated with larger financial institutions located out of the state.

8. How can a small bank like yours provide competitive products and services?
We are able to provide virtually all of the same products and services that the very largest banks provide now. Our prices and fees can be very competitive because our overhead and cost structures are much smaller than larger organizations. Additionally, we can make decisions much more quickly because of our size and our “flat” organizational design.
9. Why should I bank with you?

Very well capitalized
 Excellent liquidity
 Locally owned
 Local decision making
 Flexibility and adaptability
Full range of banking products & services
 Very competitive rates on deposits
 Below market fees
 Technology driven
 Experienced bankers
