Background and History of the Big Sandy Holding Company

The bank’s original location in Limon, Colorado was formed in 1919 by a group of local businessmen and has served the financial needs of Limon since that time.

In 1991, the Big Sandy Holding Company - currently held by approximately 160 stockholders - was formed to purchase the charter location.

In June, 2001, a group of experienced and established businessmen in Boulder County raised more than $13 million and merged the new capital into the Big Sandy Holding Company. This was used to support branch expansion into the Front Range communities of Colorado under the name Mile High Banks.
